Eight teenagers have been charged with murder following the death of a 21-year-old man after a house party in Bahrs Scrub, south of Brisbane.

Jongkuch Kur Jongkuch, from Redbank Plains, died on August 1, several days after he was found critically injured on a street near the party.

Police allege the group charged in connection with his death arrived at the Bahrs Scrub property with a plan to cause harm. Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said investigators believed the group had armed themselves before attending the gathering.

Police have not confirmed whether the alleged attack was connected to organised crime or gangs, and have not publicly detailed the weapons allegedly involved.

The eight accused are aged between 17 and 19. Several have already appeared in Brisbane courts and remain in custody, with further matters scheduled for later this month.

One of the accused faces additional charges relating to intimidation, unlawful stalking, robbery, extortion and deprivation of liberty.

Police have also charged a 22-year-old man over an alleged failure to provide information required to access electronically stored information as part of the investigation.

Authorities say community cooperation has been important in preventing further tensions following the incident.

Detective Inspector Galpin said police were confident there would be no retaliation and praised community leaders for working with officers to address concerns.

Queensland African Communities Council president Beny Bol also called for calm, saying the incident should be treated as the actions of individuals rather than being viewed as a reflection of an entire cultural community.

He said community members were coming together to support those affected and expressed hope that the justice system would hold those responsible accountable.

The case has attracted significant attention because of the number of young people charged and the circumstances surrounding the house party.

All allegations against the accused will be tested through the courts, and those charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Police investigations remain ongoing.
